TRUETAIL PILOT
Prop / Environment Concept
Conceptualized key locations in the pilot episode.
The Water Castle is home to many enormous statues. This was concept for a particularly large statue in one of the halls.
In the Necromancer's lair, he has an enormous table. This was early concept I did on what it could look like.
The Necromancer's lair is filled with necromantic magic and bones. This was concept on what magic lanterns and aqueducts could look like using skulls.
VIKTOR PROMO VIDEO
Prop Concept
Generated concept for Viktor's ship, as well as other miscellaneous props.
More tight designs for Viktor's ship. These two boats feature ocean and unicorn motifs. The show's prop style was shape-based and simplified, but thoroughly thought out and fantastical. Getting Viktor's boat to balance between whimsical and imposing was tough!
During the initial concept phase, a silhouette pass was called for. These are a few of the designs that were made.
The director requested detailed expansions on one of the silhouette choices. I took inspiration from war galleons and pirate ships, but kept the design grand and fantastical to match Viktor's character. These two drew upon cloud and dragon motifs.
CALEB PROMO VIDEO
Prop Concept
Designed the dummy!
After receiving initial concept sketches, my task was to flesh out a dummy for Caleb to beat up. It needed to be something he could have built with easily-accessible materials, and needed to be a cute, Caleb-version of the skeleton he'd face later in the short.
This is one of the various tight passes I handed in for review. My task was to take the design the director liked, plushify it, and describe how it would be assembled so the puppet builders could understand how to build the rig for it.
